A Star is Born

A Star is Born – Established rocker Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper) meets shy singer songwriter Ally (Lady Gaga) and an immediate connection is made. When he coaxes her to perform on stage with him, they rock the house. You feel like you’re at a concert – all you need is a beer in one hand and a doobie in the other. I cannot begin to tell you how good they are together.

For a time, they make beautiful music as a team. On and off the stage, they are funny, sexy and perfect except for the drinking. So while Jackson is on his way to becoming a certified alcoholic/drug addict, Ally is getting noticed on her own. It’s hard to watch as he degenerates into a falling down drunk and embarrasses everyone when she’s receiving a Grammy.

Sam Elliott plays Bobby, Jackson’s much older brother. Andrew Dice Clay is Ally’s dad who had dreams of becoming a crooner like Sinatra. Some very talented drag queens.

The ending is heartbreakingly sad but still one of the best movies so far this year. Both Cooper and Lady G are tremendous.  Cooper could even be nominated for Best Director.  The soundtrack is FANTASTIC.
