Dunkirk – Fighter planes flying, fighter planes shot down. Ships sailing, ships sinking. Bombs blasting, machine guns firing. Beaches and ocean filled with soldiers from the Army, the Navy, the Air Force waiting to be rescued. Men desperate to save themselves, willing to sacrifice others. Acts of compassion and bravery. Senselessness of war. Triumph of surviving.

Directed by Christopher Nolan and based on true story of the British and French battle with the Germans during WWII. It goes back and forth from land to sea to air with little dialogue (a good thing as I couldn’t understand a lot of the accents anyway). Beautifully shot. Great cast with Mark Rylance, Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh and….Harry Styles.
