Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spiderman: Homecoming – Peter Parker (Tom Holland) anxiously awaits a call for a big mission as Spiderman after completing his apprenticeship with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Stark expects him to practice with easier neighborhood stuff so he entertains people by swinging through the air and tightrope walking, and giving directions. Best friend Ned (jacob Batalon) is totally awed when he uncovers Peter’s secret identity.

The first half drags along and is very teenager-y. At times, I thought it would never end. Not sure why every bone in Peter’s body was not broken with all his falls. There are a number of good laughs but not a lot of tension. The coolest people are classmate Michelle (Zendaya) and, of course, RD2. Marissa Tomei plays Aunt May, Michael Keaton is the Vulture, Jon Favreau is Happy Hogan.

One particularly funny moment is when class teacher says a casual ‘thank you” as Spidey seems to be falling to his death. The ending is funny and there will be another Spiderman. Stay past the credits.
