The Book of Henry

The Book of Henry – Typically, I don’t read other reviews before I write mine. This time I did and kind of disagree with Rotten Tomatoes and whoever said it was “manipulative.” Henry (Jaeden Lieberher) is an exceptional 11-year-old … he is beyond extraordinary, he’s cute, he’s funny …. his verbal sparring with mom’s (Naomi Watts) best friend (Sarah Silverman) is the best. To me, the movie spotlighted child abuse by those in power. Yes, it’s a bit of a stretch to believe all of it and it’s definitely a little much when the cute doctor (Lee Pace) shows up, but that’s the way movies are.

Set in Westchester County, New York in the fall so the scenery is gorgeous. Henry and his younger brother (Jacob Tremblay from “Room”) are totally adorable. Sweet, sad and some suspense.
