Miss Sloane

Miss Sloane – Elizabeth Sloane (Jessica Chastain) is a pill-popping workaholic in the first degree. She’s a lobbyist in Washington, DC, and does whatever it takes to win. Easily persuaded to join the other side in the gun control legislation…she was asked to convince women to view guns as tools of empowerment…she takes most of her young, fast talking team with her. Apparently talking real fast is supposed to show how smart you are, sort of like chefs who chop vegetables at lightning speed.

Miss Sloane herself is cold, unfeeling, calculating, using whomever she can whenever she can and yet you can’t help but root for her. She is one strong, tough lady, always staying two steps ahead of her opposition. And she is perfectly okay paying for her personal pleasures. This is a good look at how crooked and broken our political system is. Both sides are equally corrupt.

Thoroughly enjoyable with some fine performances: John Lithgow, Sam Waterston, Mark Strong, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Stuhlbarg, Alison Pill, Jake Lacy. As for Miss Chastain with her Jessica Rabbit body, all I have to say – Oscar, Oscar, Oscar.
