Allied – In 1942 French Morocco, an intelligence officer, Max Vatan, (Brad Pitt) and a French resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard) are paired together to take out a Nazi bigwig. Soon after the successful mission, they have crazy hot sex in a car while a desert sandstorm whirls outside. They move to London, get married, have a baby girl and start a wonderful life. Then he gets a call. His wife just might be a German spy. He’s asked to set a trap for her. Vowing to prove they’re wrong, he risks his life and that of others.

It has shades of Casablanca. There’s a “Play it, Sam” scene and teardrops amidst raindrops. Cotillard has the beauty of Ingrid Bergman and Pitts has it all over Bogart. Their baby is the best little year-old kid ever. Max has a gay sister ( Lizzy Caplan) with a partner…I wouldn’t have thought gay women were that open back in the ‘40’s.

It’s good.
