The Edge of Seventeen

The Edge of Seventeen – Nadine (Hailee Steinfield) has had self-esteem issues since she was four. When her best…and only…friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson) falls for her “perfect” brother Darian (Blake Jenner), she contemplates suicide – I mean, really. Sometimes you wonder why she has such a hard time fitting in – she’s cute, she’s smart – and then she opens her mouth with a cruel, hurtful remark and you kinda get it. She constantly confides in her cool, flippant teacher (Woody Harrelson) and is devastated when he comes back with “Maybe no one likes you.”

Naturally, she has the hots for Nick (Alexander Calvert) who doesn’t know she exists while overlooking the amazing, shy guy (Hayden Szeto) who is totally into her. Wearing Britney Spears styled cheerleader skirts and a jacket from a second-grade boy’s closet, she thinks of herself as awkward and the only person on Earth with problems, but spoiled, self-absorbed brat is a good description too. Notice her stylin’ sneakers though.

Loved Harrelson in this as well as Kyra Sedgwick as the widowed mom of the two teenagers.
