Sully – “This is the captain. Brace for impact.” Words you never want to hear but on January 14, 2009, passengers on US Airways 1549 received that warning minutes before their plane landed on the cold Hudson River. Even though we all know how it turned out, Clint Eastwood has managed to make a very entertaining, suspenseful movie. It mainly focuses on what we didn’t know: the NTSB’s investigation into whether or not Capt. “Sully” Sullenberger (Tom Hanks) endangered lives unnecessarily by not heading back to the airport.

You can’t help but wonder if those 155 souls now live with a heightened sense of gratitude and if they approach life a little differently after having survived that. How the plane stayed afloat so long is surprising to me.

As always, Clint – I like to think we’re on a first name basis – has great music in the background.
