Money Monster – Fast talking, quick thinking TV financial host Lee Gates (George Clooney) is taken hostage by Kyle Budwell (Jack O’Connell), a young man who lost $60,000 following the Money Monster’s advice. The company that Kyle invested in used the excuse of a technical glitch as the reason it lost $800M of investor money. Kyle is not buying that and wants answers now, and he’s willing to die if he doesn’t get them. Producer Patty Fenn (Julia Roberts) is responsible for keeping everyone calm while trying to find the money and who made it disappear.

Gates bonds with his captor as do many of those watching the on-screen live event. It’s serious and intense with a lot of funny. It feels like something that could happen today or should have happened a couple of years ago. Think greed and no moral conscience.

George and Julia have their usual comfortable chemistry. I think he used a double in the dancing scenes and Julia needs to buy pants from the tall girl’s department. The movie directed by Jodie Foster should do very well at the box office this weekend.
