The Family Fang

The Family Fang – Nicole Kidman and Jason Bateman star in this off-center story. Because their parents (Christopher Walken and Maryann Plunkett), are unconventional, to say the least…they made a living by filming avant-garde pranks and refer to the kids as Child A and Child B…Anne and Baxer prefer to stay as far away from them as possible. Annie dreams of a normal family life like taking a Winnebago to the Grand Canyon. Baxter hopes to write a best seller about their childhood. When the parents disappear, the brother and sister are fairly certain it’s just another one of their tricks.

It’s a little dark, a little disturbing and a whole lot strange. But it’s good. Christopher Walken was made for his role as the verging-on-mad father. Kidman is intense and introspective. Bateman is likable as always and just all-around first-rate. He also directs it.
