Room – Five-year-old Jack (Jacob Tremblay) has spent his entire life thinking the whole world is contained in the small room he shares with his Ma (Brie Larson). Ma was kidnapped at 17 and has been held captive ever since in a shed with a coded lock. Now seven years later, she’s ready to tell Jack there’s so much more to life than what he’s known. She prepares him to escape from the man they call Old Nick (Sean Bridgers).

This is based on the best-selling book “Room” by Emma Donoghue. I loved the book and this movie is more than equal to it. Brie Larson is up for an Oscar for her part, but I cannot tell you how good this little boy is. Watching him adjust and react to his new surroundings, he’s incredible.

Others who help make this a superb movie are Joan Allen, William H. Macy, Amanda Brugel as Officer Parker, and Tom McCamus as Leo. My only criticism is surely in seven years Ma should have been able to figure out the code for the lock.
