Joy – In a house with four generations, including ex-husband (Edgar Ramirez) and divorced parents (Robert DeNiro & Virginia Madsen), everyone looks to Joy (Jennifer Lawrence) to take care of them. Grandma (Diane Ladd) narrates the story and is the only one who encourages Joy with her inventions and dreams.

You’d think once her miracle mop sold over 50,000 units on QVC, she’d be on easy street. But she’s ill-advised and gets screwed in several directions. Jealous half-sister (Elisabeth Rohm) and others in the somewhat crazy family blame her for their mistakes. Eventually she realizes her own power and begins to walk like a gunslinger while still continuing to support her mostly crappy family.

The TV clips with Donna Mills and the 60-lb. Susan Lucci are fun. Bradley Cooper is the QVC executive who gives Joy her first, and second, chance. It’s an inspiring story and J Law gives her usual knock-out performance. The rest of the cast (Isabella Rossellini, Dascha Polanco, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Drena DeNiro) are excellent, too.
