Spotlight – The acting could not be any better. The story could not be more gripping. It’s the account of the Boston Globe’s uncovering of the Catholic Church’s cover-up of pedophile priests. Not only did the church hide its dirty little secrets but using its enormous power, it pressured everyone around to keep quiet while it was destroying the lives of hundreds of innocent children.

Instead of exposing the scumbags, the church just moved them from parish to parish, city to city. Listening to the children who are now adults talk about how they were abused by those they compared to God is heartbreaking. Even the lawyers were coerced to settle the cases directly with the church. So much blame to go around.

I see lots of nominations for this movie. Best picture, best actor, best supporting, and so on.
Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Live Schreiber, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, Billy Crudup, Brian d’Arcy James, John Slattery and more. It’s a wow!
