Kingsman: The Secret Service – A long-time independent British intelligence agency recruits “Egsy” (Taron Egerton) whose father was a member. Kingsman is a Savile Row tailor shop with hidden secrets. Harry Hart (Colin Firth), code name Gallahad, indoctrinates young Egsy into the spy life. Helping Harry are Arthur (Michael Caine) and Merlin (Mark Strong). They need to take down Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) and his assistant Gazella. Valentine wants to control the world’s overpopulation so he offers everyone a SIM card with free internet and free phone forever. Gazelle uses her Pistorius blades to slice and dice.

It’s a spoof of Bond movies with a ton of toys – bullet proof umbrellas, shoes with blades, grenades disguised as lighters. There’s a touch of the Hunger Games, too. Some of the action scenes are really far-fetched but it’s pretty fun overall. Fireworks with exploding heads. Valentine/Jackson has an intermittent lithp. Firth looks like he’s totally enjoying himself. And when Egsy is dressed up in a Kingsman suit with glasses, he turns out to be a mini-me of Harry.
