And So It Goes

And So It Goes – Real estate salesman and widower Oren Little (Michael Douglas) doesn’t care that people think he’s kind of obnoxious. Actually, he seems to take pride in it and he knows how to get his way. Luke (Scott Shepherd), his estranged son, turns up with a 10 year-old daughter, Sarah (Sterling Jerins). Next door neighbor, Leah (Diane Keaton), is a buttoned-up lounge singer who ends up crying during her performances. Oren tells Leah that he doesn’t think he was a bad parent, he was “just dealt a bad kid who was only good at taking drugs.”

Directed by Rob Reiner who also plays Artie, Leah’s accompanist and sometimes date, this romantic comedy shows that even those collecting Social Security are looking for love. Frances Sternhagen plays Claire, a chain-smoking, tough talking receptionist who sees through Oren. This is the first grown up movie out this month at the regular theaters. It’s a beautiful location set in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and the cutest little waterfront fourplex. Funny and not too sweet thanks to Douglas.
