The Fault In Our Stars

The Fault In Our Stars – Hazel Grace (Shailene Woodley) and Augustus ”Gus” Waters (Ansel Elgort) meet at a support group for teenagers with cancer. Hazel drags an oxygen tank behind her and Gus is a survivor. His best friend Isaac has an “always” girlfriend, Monica, and is about to become totally blind. It’s heartbreakingly sad. But wait, these kids face death and dying with maturity, style and fun. They’re smart, they’re witty, they make jokes about the perks they get just because they have cancer. They egg Monica’s car and home after she dumps Isaac

Hazel has a dying wish to meet the author of her favorite novel so she can ask some follow up questions, but she’s already used her wish to go to Disneyland when she was 13. Free spirited and life-loving Gus saved his and now the two of them get to go to Amsterdam to meet Peter Van Houten (Willem Dafoe). Van Houten turns out to be an ass but Gus and Hazel get to fall in love and have a wonderful romantic trip with the blessings of Hazel’s mom (Laura Dern).

The movie is set in Indianapolis, Indiana and is based on the best-selling novel by John Green. I think the thing you come away with is if you make a difference in only one person’s life, that is more than enough.
