Playbook Silver Linings

Playbook Silver Linings – One of the best romantic comedies I’ve seen in a long time.  It’s not the usual – Pat (Bradley Cooper) has “undiagnosed bipolar disease” and Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) lost her job because she had sex with 11 of her co-workers.  Pat is just released into his parents care after completely losing it when he found his wife in the shower with another teacher.  He beat the guy up and served eight months in the mental hospital.  Dad Robert DeNiro has lost his job and is doing a little bookmaking in order to get enough money to open a restaurant.  Pat meets Tiffany, recently widowed,  through friends and plans to use her to get in touch with Nikki who has a restraining order against him.

Tiffany agrees to help but only if Pat will participate in a dance competition with her.   The best part is when they score a 5.0 out of a possible 10 and the whole family goes wild with cheering.

It’s a little long as most movies seem to be these days but really, really good.  Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) is just killer in this.  It kind of bothered me that Bradley Cooper has this little cut on his nose that never heals.  Supporting players are Chris Tucker as Pat’s friend Danny and Julia Stiles as Nikki’s friend Veronica.
