A Late Quartet

A Late Quartet – Christopher Walken (Peter) is a music teacher, cellist and  the eldest member of The Fugue String Quartet. The quartet is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary, and Peter discovers he’s in the early stages of Parkinson’s.  He wants to bow out and bring in a replacement.  With the possibility of change, his younger colleagues begin to pull apart.  The marriage of Robert (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) and Catherine Keener (Juliette) is almost destroyed by a one-night stand.  Daniel (Mark Ivanir) completely messes up with an affair of his own with Robert & Juliette’s daughter Alexandra (Imogen Poot).  All are trying to find their passion with music and to save the quartet.

It’s a bit melodramatic.  I think you just naturally expect that with chamber music.  Good ensemble cast. PSH is a natural actor.  Mr. Walken will probably get a nod from at least one of the award shows.
