My Week With Marilyn

My Week with Marilyn – A true story, at least according to Colin Clarke.  Clarke, Eddie Redmayne, is from a prominent family and determined to get a job working in movie production.  His persistence pays off and he gets hired as third assistant director on The Prince and The Showgirl starring Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams).  Everyone warns him not to fall for Monroe, but he goes right ahead and does it.  Williams’ cheeks are too chubby to look totally like Monroe but her body rocks and she makes the most of her behind.  She plays the legend as a mixture of spoiled child and heavily medicated adult.  Appearing sometimes innocent, just wanna have fun kind of girl, sometimes lost and lonely, and always very sexy, you get the sense she knows exactly what she’s doing and what effect she’s having as she manipulates her way through everyone.  Like Sir Elton, I would have liked to have known her…

Williams’ performance is the one most talked about but there is a superb supporting cast from Redmayne and Branagh to Judi Dench as Dame Sybil who shows a lot of boob to Julia Ormond as Vivien Leigh to Emma Watson (Hermione in Harry Potter).  Very good movie.
