Sherlock Holmes, A Game of Shadows

Posted on December 18, 2011

Sherlock Holmes, Game of  Shadows – Sherlock (Robert Downey, Jr.) and Watson (Jude Law) still have all that chemistry going on between them – so much so that they dance together and once Sherlock, made up like Tony Curtis in “Some Like It Hot,”  has his legs wrapped around Watson’s face.  All in good fun, of course, wink wink.

Here, Sherlock is a little more paranoid and a little more manic as he tries out different disguises and drinks formaldehyde while keeping Watson from his honeymoon.  They’re out to stop the fiendishly evil Professor Moriarity from starting another world war, and to save a gypsy’s brother from helping start it.  Some of the disguises are pretty clever (loved the chair one), some silly as are a few scenes, and they could have done with two or three fewer explosions.  But there’s lots of sharp wit to keep you entertained and make you look forward to SH, Part 3.
