Black Swan

Black Swan – Natalie Portman plays a disturbed ballerina (Nina) with the mental and emotional maturity of a child, a tendency toward kleptomania, and a victim of self-abuse, in more ways than one, if you know what I mean. Possibly this is due to her domineering, controlling mother (Barbara Hershey) who keeps her in a fluffy pink bedroom suitable for a nine-year old. Mom also acts more like a lover than a mother, adding an even sicker dimension to their relationship.
All the other principals exhibit some sort of psychotic behavior. As Nina takes on the role of the Black Swan, she also takes on its characteristics, becoming crazier. It’s a very well-acted movie, yet I wouldn’t call it a thriller or a great art film, just sick. There is a lesbian scene with Mila Kunis that should interest some guys. A lot of other scenes I couldn’t bear to watch.
