Emma Stone is Olive, a high school kid who tells one teeny lie to her best friend about losing her virginity and sooner than you can say “awesome” she has the reputation of a slut. She decides to just go with it and help out classmates who are not in the popular crowd raise their standing by saying they’ve had sex with her. All goes well until one kid gets an STD and she gets blamed.
Made for teens, this is still enjoyable for adults with Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson playing cool, don’t-take-themselves-too-seriously, loving-life parents – you know, the kind we’d all like to have had. Thomas Haden Church is the understanding teacher and Lisa Kudrow is the guidance counselor with issues of her own.
And Emma gets to get on stage at a pep rally to sing, dance, and tell her own story her way. It’s a nice, clean cut comedy with lots of sharp, quick-witted remarks.
