Eat, Pray, Love

The story of a woman’s search for herself. Like many, Liz Gilbert, played by Julia Roberts, lives her life defined by the man of the moment in her life. After a failed marriage and a failed affair, she sets out on a year-long adventure to Italy, India and Indonesia (notice all the “I’s”). She eats in Italy, prays in India and, surprise, meets Javier Bardem in Bali. Along the way, she learns some truths from several folks, including a cute little old toothless man, a medicine woman, and a recovering alcoholic played by Richard Jenkins. The main lesson is to know and love yourself before you get hooked up with anyone else.
Brad Pitt is one of the producers of this, if you care about that sort of thing. It follows the book pretty closely, actually a bit too closely as a few cheesy events could have been cut from the over two hour length. You do get to see some nice scenery and any movie playing Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold” gets my vote.
